Sharing Kimtags Using NFC On Android (Google Nexus S)

We had a discussion yesterday with one of our users regarding how to set up a Google Nexus S phone to share a Kimtag via NFC. Some notes here for anyone wanting to do the same. Although we ran this setup with our user on a Nexus S, these instructions should work on any mobile phone using Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with an NFC capable phone.

First, open up the 'Tags' application on your phone, then click 'My Tag'. Click 'Add new tag' at the bottom of the screen.

To share a Kimtag, it's as easy as sharing your Kimtag URL. So just click on 'URL' and type in the URL of your Kimtag, for example 'http://kimtag.com/mykimtag' - where 'mykimtag' is your kimtag.

Finally, check the 'share my tag' box. This will allow other NFC enabled phones and other NFC devices) to be able to read your tag.

If you want to be able to track the views of your Kimtag from NFC devices, then you can add '/nfc' to the end of your Kimtag URL. For example, 'http://kimtag.com/mykimtag/nfc'. Users will see exactly the same connection page and you'll be able to see both NFC related connection daily page views and NFC related daily connection clicks within your Kimtag stats.

Your final 'My Tag' page on your Android  phone should look similar to this :
